Why AI assistants recommend some hotels and not others

We run the same traveller questions across several AI platforms and record who gets named. The pattern in who appears is remarkably consistent.

Across the observations we log for destinations in Seychelles, Kenya and Tanzania, the businesses named most often share three things: a website whose pages clearly state what they are and where, third-party listings that agree with the website, and a steady stream of recent reviews that mention what makes them distinctive.

The businesses that are missing usually fail in quieter ways: an About page written like a brochure, room descriptions with no location context, opening hours that differ between Google and the website, or no content at all about the destination they sit in.

None of these faults is hard to fix once you can see them — and you can. Ask an assistant the questions your guests would ask, note whether you are named, and record what it says about you. What it gets wrong or omits is your starting list.
